“Dean can we talk?” she said, knocking on the door.
“Yeah, come in”, he said to her and she walked in.
She sat on his bed and smiled at him.
“Why are you smiling?” he asked her.
“Do you know you’re the best thing that ever happenend to me? Like I
don’t know what my life would have been like without you”, she said to him and
he smiled.
“I’m blushing”, he said, laughing.
“You’re just so silly”.
“But I’m honest, you are. You make life so easy for me, always there to hear what
I have to say, always there for me whenever I need it. Like, I’m really blessed to
have you in my life and I pray and hope that whatver happens, you’ll still remain
in my life”, she said to him and he smiled.
“I didn’t want to have to do this but I have to”, she said, looking down at her
fingers and Dean’s face dropped. He knew what was coming.
“I’ve been selfish for so long and I don’t want to keep pulling you along, it’s not
fair to you or to Richard. I still have deep feelings for you, but a part of me can’t
shake Richard off. He makes me so happy and he placed his interest in me when
he didn’t even really know me and he came so hard for me and from the first day
till now, he’s been the same and he’s just so…. I don’t know Dean but I can’t let
him go. I want to be with him and explore more with him”.
“I didn’t plan for this to happen and I feel so bad that I have to do this but…”
“It’s fine Jessica, I understand”, he said, forcing a smile and she didn’t know what
to say to him.
“Why does this feel like a breakup?” she said to herself and she was really hurting
within. She didn’t want to hurt him or cause a rift between them but she had to
do it. She had to pick one.
“Have a goodnight Dean”, she said to him and she got on her feet and left the
room.
The following day, Jessica was feeling a bit down. She felt like a part of her was
missing and it made her feel really weird.
She was at the design room with Erica and the other designers but her mind was
somewhere else.
“Jessica, cut this and pass it on to Janet”, Erica said, handing over a fabric material
to her but she was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear her.
“Jessica??” Erica called out and it startled her.
“Yes??” she said, snapping back to reality.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I am”.
“Okay? did you hear what i just asked you to do?”
“Uhmm, I didn’t really hear you clearly”.
“Then your mind wasn’t here. Are you sure you’re fine?”
“Yeah, I am. I just spaced out for a minute”.
“Mmm, okay. Cut this fabric and pass it on to Janet”.
“Okay”, she said, taking the fabric material.
She walked over to the cutting desk and she cut it and passed it on to Janet.
Jessica was walking back to her office and someone pulled her into a room and
locked the door.
She turned around and saw that she was in Richard’s bedroom.
“Richard”, she said to him and she hugged him.
He was really surprised and he hugged her back.
“I’m really having a bad day”, she said to him.
“What’s making your day bad?” He asked.
“I don’t know but I just want to be in your arms right now”, she said to him and
he smiled.
They stayed in that position for a while till she pulled back.
“How’s your day going?” She asked him.
“It’s going really well. I was able to close about 3 new top tier clients today”.
“Wow, that’s awesome! You’re really good at what you do”, she said, smiling.
“Yeah, I try my best”.
“Want to step out for lunch? It’s almost time”, he said to her.
“Is that allowed?”
“Yeahh but you’ll have to back on time”.
“Will I be back on time?” She asked, giving him a look “And don’t we already have
a date tonight?”
“You’ll be back on time and there’s no harm in having lunch and dinner together”,
he said to her.
“Okay”, she said, smiling. “How do we do it? We can’t leave together”.
“Take the lead and wait for me at the bus stop and I’ll pick you up”.
“Wow, how did you think of that so fast? Have you done this before?” She asked,
chuckling.
“Well, I’m dating someone who wants us to play hide and seek, so I have to think
of effective ways to do that”, he said to her and she chuckled.
“So we are dating? I didn’t know that”, she said, smiling.
“Ouch! But I get why you’ll ask that. I’ve not asked you officially and I plan to do
so tonight”.
“Wow, such a spoiler alert”.
“You asked for it”, he said, smiling.
“Alright. I’m going to the bus-top, then. Don’t keep me waiting”.
“Yes ma’am”.
“See you at the bus stop”.
“Or maybe, we should take a bus”, he said to her.
“That’ll be so cool but where are we going to eat at? We can’t just take any bus”,
she said to him.
“Oh really?”
“You didn’t know that?”
“Yeah, I’ve never taken a bus before”.
“Wow. Must be nice”.
“So the buses have different destinations and routes and..” she started to say and
he laughed.
“Did you really think I’ll be that dumb? I’ve never taken a bus before but I know
they all have different destinations and routes”, he said, laughing and she gave
him a face.
“You’re so annoying”, she said to him and he chuckled.
“Where do you usually eat at? I’ll like to go there”, he said to her.
“You sure? Cos it’s not a posh place”.
“Well, as long as I’m with you, I think I’ll be fine”, he said to her and she smiled.
“Alright. I’ll be waiting at the bus stop”, she said to him and she left.
Jessica was at the bus stop waiting for Richard and he showed up few minutes
later.
“You ready?” She asked, looking around to be sure that there was no one around.
“Jessica, relax. No one really steps out for lunch so I don’t think there’ll be anyone
around”.
“I’m just making sure”, she said, chuckling.
“If you want us to get back in time, I suggest we leave now”, he said to her.
“Yeah, but the bus we are going to board isn’t here yet”.
“How long will it take for it to arrive?”
“3 to 5 minutes”.
“Oh okay. So we just stand and wait?”
“Yeah. Or you can sit”.
“Here?” He asked, pointing at the bench.
“Yeahh”.
“I think I’ll just stand”, he said to her and she chuckled.
They waited for a while till the bus arrived.
“Let’s get in”, she said to him and he nodded.
They both got into the bus and sat at the back seat.
“It’s actually comfortable in here. This isn’t what I imagined it to be”.
“What was running through your mind?”
“Discomfort”.
“Mmm, sometimes it can get uncomfortable when a certain kind of passenger sits
you”.
“I see and how do we pay?”
“I paid at the entrance. There was an attendant standing there”.
“Really? I didn’t notice that and you didn’t have to pay”.
“It’s not that expensive so it’s nothing”, she said to him and he chuckled.
“What’s funny?”
“No one has ever made payment for me besides my parents”, he said, smiling.
“Wow, so I’m the first?”
“Yeahhh and I really appreciate it”.
“You’re making my head so big and I feel like I paid millions”, she said to him and
he chuckled.
They talked for a while till the bus came to a stop.
“We are getting off here”, she said to him and they both got off the bus.
“Wow, that was a wonderful experience and it was nice to not have to drive”, he
said, smiling.
“You’re welcome”.
“Do you know how to drive?” He asked her.
